About Us

Mountainworks is a custom home design firm based in the Cashiers valley of Western North Carolina. For over 20 years the Design Team of Travis Mileti AIBD, Marie Mileti AIBD, and Valerie Chastain AIBD have specialized in designing custom homes in the mountain and lake communities, of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Mountainworks designs custom homes to fit the specific needs of the client. Based on topography, view orientation, solar influence, and the desires and lifestyle of the home owner, we produce a home that creates a special sense of belonging. Every Mountainworks home is its own custom creation.

Mountainworks also designs many small commercial structures. We have designed or given new life to many local shoppes, markets, offices, club gatehouses, and retail stores in the Cashiers-Highlands area. Our staff takes the same approach to commercial design as they do to residential. Creating a comfortable blend of mountain vernacular details to produce a relaxed and welcome feel to a commercial use facility is always our goal.

Mountainworks creates homes with the finest building materials and techniques as a prerequisite. The use of antique log and lumber combined with "mountainesque" details are prevalent in many of our designs. The "old world" styling of Mountainworks guarantees a design that will stand the test of time.

"The designers at Mountainworks have a talent for creating custom homes that set the standard for the mountain vernacular."

"Mountainworks designs display their own timeless mountain design style, which include a unique blend of Adirondack and craftsman, with shingle style overtones."
